April 3, 2010 Multi-Stake Singles Conference Dance, Sorensen Center, UVU

Monday, April 12th, 2010

K, where else but at a LDS Singles Dance can you hear Marcia Griffiths: Electric Boogie and then the next song right after it Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (’twasn’t Marie Osmond’s version though – RATS!)? I would cheerfully contend that only happens in one place – an LDS Singles Dance.

And where can you have Michael Jackson’s Thriller my least favorite song/video o’ all time< /em> play in the OLD folks dancing room and then ta try and escape it ya be going to the YOUNG whippersnappers room and hear it play? There is NO ESCAPE, Michael Jackson’s Thriller is guaranteed to be a-playin’ at LEAST once at an LDS Single’s Dance – that is an unwritten rule, so let it be written so let it be done!

K, having said all that, this was a pretty fun dance, I give it 8/10 at least – even if’n ya gots the UVU cops a-herding ya out afterwards and preventin’ ya from single minglin.’

Is “linger longer” (ta gets ya some food as quick as possible and socializin’ on Fast Sunday) and “single mingle” a Utah thing? I never heard it before I came to Utah, never heard ‘up the canyin’ neither.

Dees Dance 10/24/2009 Lindon Noah’s

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

K, if you are an LDS Single woman the Dee’s Dance you go to – without fail, is Lindon Noah’s.

Why? Cuz the last times I have been there are more men than women, most of ‘em a-standing on the side a-trying to get up the courage to ask the women.

It was still a fun dance though.

Otter pops for refreshments = a chance to have a purple or blue tongue – if desired.

Another thing about otter pops – does it drive anyone else nuts when you accidentally skootch that weird otter pop plastic across your teeth (same thing with ice cream sandwich plasticy paper)? Does me – k, I’m officially weird – if there was any question icon wink Dees Dance 10/24/2009 Lindon Noahs

10/25/2009 Multi-Stake Singles Fireside

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

K, I went to this fireside and Bro. Harrison? spoke on uplifting music and it was good.

The parking lot was almost totally full cuz I guess the choir is getting their Christmas songs ready, so’s I had to park in the back of the building. The church has a one-way street back around the back (a little unusual).

I liked Bro. Harrison’s talk and the way he found his wife was kinda interesting because he prayed hard and then went to Utah State University in Logan. He took a Choir class and on the first day he stared intently in each of the ladies faces and felt impressed that he should marry one of them. Then he met her going into the building the next class and the rest is, shall we say, history.

He also said he has a t-shirt with Pres. Monson’s very cool quote:

“The future is as bright as your faith.” from this talk

Also Bro Harrison said that he “was smart enough not to tell her that” (about not telling her that he felt he received inspiration that he should marry her) so’s don’t get any ideas that that is a good idea to tell women, k?

Mental note: I need to pray harder and practice my intense staring more.

Someone in the multi-stake singles leadership is trying to lose weight cuz there was mainly just tons o’ ranch dressing and veggies for refreshments – sorry but I NEED at least one macadamia nut cookie from Costco per each fireside I go to. I did get a graham cookie windmill shaped kind o’ thing that was kinda good though.

Travis Osmond Multi-Stake Singles Fireside, Springville, 08/03/2009

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

I had no clue of who was going to be speaking at this fireside but I am definitely glad I went. There was a large crowd at this fireside and all in all it was awesome!

Travis is the son of Merrill Osmond and had some very entertaining stories about his father and the performing Osmonds.

I particularly enjoyed his stories about how his parents met and began dating – his Mom didn’t want to date Merrill, thought he was stuck up, and gave Merrill a challenge that she wanted to meet Robert Redford – which he passed with flying colors.
